The faculty of Computing Engineering and Technology (FCET) also offer two e-learning courses; MSc Mobile Computing Systems and MSc Mobile Computing. Details about each course are available can be found here. Either of these courses are recommended for employees looking for a qualification which can form part of a personal development plan (PDP).

Usability centre
A mobile usability centre, to support regional SMEs in equipment testing and improvement

Technology brokerage
To create and manage a technology brokerage service for SMEs in the mobile and wireless sub-cluster. The brokerage will act as a contact point for those seeking specific technologies for inclusion in new products and services, and act as a coordination point for groups of SMEs wishing to bid collaboratively for larger and/or public sector projects. The brokerage will also notify participating SMEs of opportunities as they arise, by registering as a supplier and distribution of public sector requests for tender, e-tenders, and notices.

Demonstrator centres

The principle is twofold:
• Demonstration, providing demonstration facilities for the technologies in operation across the full range of mobile and wireless opportunities
• Participation, allowing developers to come and work on a live project, acquiring an understanding of the development process and working in an environment, and taking away the full source code of the project to act as a basis for or contribution to their company’s work
